Shown as a shiny, sealed vase, the funeral urn emoji frequently features on online top 10 lists of incorrectly used or confusing emojis. But, to be fair: its appearance straight after the coffin emoji should be a hint! Funeral urns are used in many cultures and communities where cremation is common, and are used to hold the ashes of a deceased loved one. As such, the emoji can be used when talking about bereavement or funerals. However, it can also be used in much less grave situations and is often employed sarcastically or humorously to say “I’m so dead!!” or “UGH! I wish I was dead!”.
